TYPES OF SOLAR

GRID DIRECT
A grid direct solar PV system is the simplest form of solar PV system and is made up of solar modules and one or more inverters.  The solar modules produce DC current when exposed to sunlight and the inverter(s) change the DC current to AC current for use in your home.  The power produced while the sun is shining is either consumed in the home, or exported to the grid for others to use.  Grid direct solar PV systems can be mounted on the roof, or on various types of ground mounts and other structures.
GRID DIRECT WITH BACKUP
Some solar inverters are designed to accept the addition of batteries that can provide limited backup power to emergency loads in the event of a grid power outage.  Batteries add cost to a solar PV system, but might be a good option for those seeking sustainable and quite back up capability.
OFF GRID
An off grid PV system is designed to supply power without the need for a grid connection at all.  Off grid PV systems range in size from small systems that might be used to run a few lights and other loads in a small cabin or barn to multiple inverter systems with large battery banks that can power large off-grid homes.  Off grid systems are the most complex and expensive systems to install, but may be an option if a grid connection is not feasible or desirable.
COMMERCIAL
Commercial Solar PV systems often have special requirements and design needs.  Mississippi Solar has a long track record helping small and medium sized commercial customers achieve there sustainability goals and needs.
